Welcome to the Crucible of Creation

Every piece of art, no matter the form it takes, starts with an idea. Or perhaps an inspiration, if you prefer. But ideas and inspiration are fickle things, easily mutable, and fleeting. We have ideas every day, and our dreams inspire us every night. But do all those things turn into art? Of course not.

It’s What Happens Next That Matters

The trick that every artist learns is that nothing is created without action, without transformation. The idea may be the nugget of material, but it is the crucible that transfigures it into something real. A composer knows that until the first note is actually played, tested and tried, his masterpiece is just a dream.

But the process is not neat and tidy. It is gloriously messy and not for the faint of heart. But that doesn’t mean that it should be avoided. Indeed, the creation process should be shared in spirit, if not in precise detail.

So Come Along for the Ride….

Spirit Treasures – A Blog will be my artist journal of sorts. I’ll post about different projects, a few methods, and the materials I use to create what you see on this website. There may be videos, most likely a few typed words, and of course, pictures. And hopefully a few sage words from the peanut gallery, or especially, you.

So check back again in a few days when I’ll be talking about how and when I use artificial intelligence in my art.
